MEMBERSHIP DEFINITIONS
  • FAMILY MEMBER  
    1) Two persons living within the same household in a marital relationship,as recognized by Florida Law, and all their children
    under the age of 21
    2) A single person and all that person's children, whether or not living within  
    the same household.                                
    3) "Children" for purposes of this section, means natural or adopted children
    under the age of 21 years, or any other person who can be claimed
    by the member as a dependent under federal income tax law.

  • ADULT MEMBER
    Any person 18 to 54 of age other than a "Family Member" or a
    "Young Adult Member" as described in this section.

  • SENIOR MEMBER
    Any person 55 years of age or over.

  • YOUTH MEMBER
    Any person under the age of 16 other than a Family Member.

  • YOUNG ADULT MEMBER
    Any person 16 years of age through 21 years of age who can show proof that they are enrolled full time as a high school or
    college student.

MEMBERSHIP CARDS:
PLEASE SHOW YOUR CARD
Membership cards are issued to every member of the YMCA. Members MUST present their card at every visit. Please help us cut down on
unpaid use of the YMCA by presenting your card at the customer service desk upon entering the facility. A $5.00 fee will be charged for
every replacement card. Key Fobs will be available for purchase.

GIFT CERTIFICATES
A Gift Certificate for a YMCA one-year membership or any YMCA program is a wonderful way to show how much you care about the
physical, mental, and spiritual well being of your loved ones. Gift Certificates may be purchased year-round at each of our association
branches.

REGISTRATION & REFUND POLICY
Program registration must be completed in person at the YMCA membership service desk. All program fees are due at the time of
registration. YMCA offers letters of credits only. Refunds are made only when a program is cancelled.

PHYSICIAN APPROVAL
The YMCA strongly recommends any person over 40 or having heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, pulmonary disease,
orthopedic injuries, or who is pregnant to obtain written physician approval prior to participating in any exercise program. Written approval
will be required for those individuals listed above prior to Fitness Evaluations.

CODE OF CONDUCT
The West Volusia Family YMCA is committed to providing a safe and welcoming environment for all members and guests. To promote safety
and comfort for all, we ask individuals to act appropriately at all times when they are in our facility or participating in our programs. We
expect persons using the YMCA to behave in a mature and responsible way and to respect the rights and dignity of others. Our Code of
Conduct does not permit language or any action that can hurt or frighten another person or that falls below a generally accepted standard
of conduct.

    Specifically, this includes:
    • Inappropriate attire; Appropriate attire must be worn at all times for the activity. Offensive wording on shirts or
    accessories fall under this area.

    • The taking of still photos or video taping is strictly prohibited without prior authorization from the West Volusia Family
    YMCA, Inc.

    The use of camera cell phones is prohibited.

    • Angry or vulgar language including swearing, name calling or shouting.

    • Physical contact with another person in any angry or threatening way.

    • Any demonstration of sexual contact or activity.

    • Harassment or intimidation by words, gestures, body language or any other menacing behavior.

    • Theft or behavior which results in the destruction of property.

    • Carrying or concealing any weapons or devices or objects which may be
    used as weapons.

    • Using or possessing illegal chemicals or alcohol in or on YMCA property or at
    YMCA sponsored programs.

    • Any other conduct of an inappropriate, threatening or offensive nature i.e. Interrupting fitness classes
    or other structured workouts by non-participants.

    • Loitering is not permitted in or outside the YMCA.

The YMCA and its property is a smoke-free environment. Smoking is not permitted on YMCA property. Members and guests are
encouraged to be responsible for  their personal comfort and safety and ask any person whose behavior threatens
their comfort to refrain. If a member or guest feels uncomfortable in confronting the person directly, he or she should report the behavior to
a staff person. Members and guests should not hesitate to notify a staff person if assistance is needed. All reported incidents will be
reviewed by Executive Management. The decision to suspend or terminate YMCA membership privileges will be made at the discretion of
Executive Management if a violation of the Code of Conduct has occurred.

VOLUNTEERS
Volunteers are always needed and welcome to work in all areas of the YMCA. You may teach or assist with programs in aquatics, fitness, or

MEMBER AND GUEST POLICIES

  • LOCKER ROOMS: Locker room facilities include restroom's, showers, and lockers. Lockers are for day use only. Please bring
    your own lock for your valuables. Locks left on overnight will be cut off. The YMCA is not responsible for lost or stolen items.

  • EQUIPMENT CHECKOUT: Basketballs and volleyballs are available for checkout during open gym hours. In order to check out
    equipment, you must leave your car keys, drivers license, or membership card.

  • DRESS REQUIREMENTS: Shoes and shirts are required in all indoor facilities. No cut offs are allowed in the pool. Athletic wear
    and shoes are required in all fitness facilities. No jeans, bathing suits, or sandals are allowed in the Fitness Center. Please
    wear modest swimsuits, thong type bathing apparel is strictly prohibited.

  • SMOKING: No tobacco products of any kind are allowed in the YMCA.

  • PHOTOGRAPHY AND VIDEO TAPING: For the protection of our members,photography, and video taping is prohibited by
    anyone other than YMCA staff in any of our facilities.

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE
The YMCA offers scholarships to needy individuals and families for childcare, program fees, and memberships. Scholarship applications are
reviewed twice a month; applications are available at the membership service desk.

FACILITY RENTAL
The YMCA is available for rental. Contact the Physical Director for further information.

GUEST POLICY
Guests are required to please sign-in at the membership service desk, and please adhere to all member policies regarding dress, behavior,
and age restrictions. Guests who require special instruction on the use of fitness equipment are asked to please call ahead and schedule
an appointment. Parents may not drop off children under the age 12.








A.W.A.Y. Program
(Always Welcome at YMCAs)
Policy for YMCA members outside of the West Volusia Family YMCA Association.

    • Visiting YMCA members receive a 3 visit stamp card (one stamp card per year)

    • Following stamp card usage, fees are: half the daily fee will be charged $4.00
    per person or $5.00 per family.

    • Central Florida YMCA Members: $4.00 per person or $5.00 per family.

    • Greater Daytona Beach YMCA Members: Reciprocal Membership with the West Volusia YMCA

RECIPROCAL MEMBERSHIP
As of January 1, 2008, the West Volusia Family YMCA will have a reciprocal usage agreement with the Greater Daytona Beach Area YMCA.
This will enable you, as a West Volusia Family YMCA member, to use their five branches as part of your current membership benefit.

YMCA member
: Members please ask the membership/marketing director at your branch for a guest pass for your visiting family.  
Restrictions may apply. For more information on the A.W.A.Y. Program contact the
Membership Director or your member service desk at your local YMCA.

MILITARY FAMILIES
The West Volusia Family YMCA reaches out to military spouse and children that have an immediate family member deployed to the Middle
East Theatre and/or Afghanistan. We extend complimentary family memberships to the spouse and children during their soldier’s
deployment. We also extend complimentary family membership to any enlisted men or women upon return from these same areas. New
recruits are able to work out at our branches free of charge to help them prepare for basic training. (New Recruits would see their
recruitment office to be put on the Military Recruitment List).

The West Volusia Family YMCA is part of a worldwide organization working to meet the various needs of children, adults, and

JOINER FEE
A one-time Joiner Fee is assessed to all memberships. Joiner Fees go towards the purchase and maintenance of equipment. Any
membership that has expired for more than 30 days is subject to a Joiner Fee if rejoining.

TRANSFERABILITY OF MEMBERSHIP
Membership in the Association is non-transferable and non-assignable.

AGE REQUIREMENTS
Children nine years old and under must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Children this age are only allowed in certain areas of the
YMCA*. Children 10 and 11 years old may use certain areas of the facility* by themselves as long as their parents or guardians are in the
facility. Children 12 years and older may use certain areas of the facility* without a parent or guardian being on the premises as long as
they are signed in at the front desk by the parent who will also leave an emergency contact number. *Ask your local YMCA what areas of
the facility your children are allowed to use.

CORPORATE MEMBERSHIPS
Employees of those companies who are corporate YMCA members may take out a membership for themselves and their families at 50% off
the Joiner Fee. To establish a company as a corporate YMCA member, the
company must have a minimum of five (5) employees take out memberships.

PAYMENT METHODS
Automatic monthly bank draft (transferred from your checking or savings account monthly), or annual payment in full (non-refundable).
Membership can be paid with cash, check or MasterCard or Visa.
