EARTH SERVICE CORPS Since its beginning in the West Volusia area in 1994, the Earth Service Corps has offered Youth the opportunity to develop leadership skills, team building, cultural diversity and a desire to serve the community while learning “TO KEEP THE EARTH FIT FOR LIFE”. This group learns important information about the environment about which we live while experiencing the outdoors. Special activities include camping, canoing, and educational field trips as well as lots of fun and skills building. The students in this group will end their year with a trip to North Carolina for some mountain adventures. Clubs will meet twice a month. LATINO ACHIEVERS The Latino Achievers Program is a leadership and career exploration program for all students in grades six through twelve in the West Volusia County area. LATINO ACHIEVERS meet twice each month. The “Y” Latino Achievers program promotes good academic performance and allows youth to challenge themselves, set goals and instill in them the YMCA principles of caring, honesty, respect responsibility and faith. Participants will be empowered through involvement in self-esteem workshop, career clusters, workplace tours, college tours, personal mentoring, community service and educational and cultural activities. We are meeting Monday, Wednesday, Friday 3:00 p.m to 6:00 p.m. (during school year) at the Teen Center of the Four Towns Community Church, which is right across the street from the Deltona Family YMCA at 181 Wolf Pack Run. We will have Teen Zumba on Wednesday. We have foosball, air hockey, ping pong tables and we soon will be starting Game Challenges with prizes awarded, video games and a stage area for fun. A "study" room is available. Instruction in arts, crafts and more. You must be a YMCA member to participate. Register at the Deltona Family YMCA on a monthly basis. The program is FREE. Food and beverages will be available for purchase each day. TEEN SCENE SUMMER CAMP Summer Camp for Teens - Ages 13-16. We will be having a five (5) day per week camp beginning on June 16 - August 8 (Monday - Friday) 7:30 a.m. - 5: 30 p.m. (extended time available upon request in advance, speak to Denise Nystrom). Camp will be held at the Harris M. Saxon Community Center, 2329 California Street, Deltona. Breakfast and Lunch will be provided. Field trips, skating, video game challenges, movies, canoe trips, swimming and much more! Registration Fee: $30.00 Weekly Fee for YMCA Members: $60.00 Weekly Fee for Non-Members: $70.00 Monthly special field trips will be offered for an additional fee.
