The DeLand Family YMCA Fitness Center is open to members ages 16 and over (except the teenage weight program).  The
Fitness Center includes a full line of Nautilus, MED-X strength equipment, free weights, elliptical trainers, stair machines,
treadmills, bicycles, and rowing machines.  New members will receive one fitness assessment and 3 one-on-one orientations to
become familiar with a workout fit for you.  
Please always bring a towel to workout.  Saturday  from 2:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m.,
members eight years old and up are welcome to use the cardiovascular equipment if supervised by parent.

RUN/WALK CLUB
If you are looking for the opportunity to exercise with others, improve endurance, and time, or must have someone to move with,
then this is the program for you. The YMCA run/walk club is a program where routes are planned on a weekly basis. A variety of
distances are made available to all participants. Monthly field trips will be organized for the group and great fun will be had by all.

JUMP START WORKOUT
Start your day off with a little kick! Is your morning coffee not giving you the boost you need to start your day? Well, grab your
coffee to go and try our new morning strength program designed to give you that extra lift. Nautilus, Med-X, and free weight
exercises will be used to help you get your day going.
Location: Fitness Center, DeLand Family YMCA
Times: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday 6:45 a.m.–7:30 a.m.
Cost: $30.00–Member $45.00–Non-Member

TRY-A-TRAINER
This program is designed to provide participants with a one-time opportunity to shop around for a trainer at a great discount.
With several trainers to choose from members are afforded the opportunity to sample different training styles and motivational
techniques. Participants are encouraged to try a trainer for a maximum of two, half-hour training sessions before trying
another trainer. We have several qualified trainers to choose from. This program is for 4 hours of training.
Cost: $100.00 members only

CARDIO/STRENGTH CIRCUIT
This program is designed for the individual who wants to get their cardio & strength workout in at the same time. Free weights
and selectorized equipment mixed in with blasts of cardio will help you achieve your fitness goals. Monthly sessions run four
weeks. Contact the YMCA for times and days. Wednesday and Friday  6:30 p.m. -7:30 p.m.
Cost: $25.00 Members $40.00 Non-members

PERSONAL TRAINING
The DeLand Family YMCA has Personal Trainers that can help you achieve your fitness goals. They will help you design a
program to help fit your personal needs, demonstrate exercises, encourage, and motivate you through your workout, load your
weights, and answer fitness questions. Contact the Fitness Department to set an appointment.
Fee: Members - $15.00 1⁄2 hour • $30.00 1 hour Packages available.

TOTAL WELLNESS PROGRAM
The West Volusia YMCA Association Total Wellness Program is designed to offer members a better understanding of their
physical fitness profile.

WOMEN ON WEIGHTS
This class is a group exercise weight training class. The class is limited to 8 people. As a group, the class will meet and determine
what they want to accomplish and learn. The class will be supervised by a YMCA certified Personal Trainer/Group Exercise
Instructor. The instructor will teach you the exercises, monitor your progress, and encourage you to reach your fitness
goals. Each monthly session is comprised of two classes weekly for 4 weeks. This class will cover proper exercise techniques on
the Med-X and Nautilus Machines as well as free weights and cardiovascular exercises.
Tuesday and Thursday 8:30 a.m.-9:30 a.m.
Cost: $25.00 Members $40.00 Non-Members

SENIORS ON WEIGHTS
Weightlifting is for everyone, no matter the age. With proper supervision and instruction, all ages can reap the benefits through
weight training, and cardiovascular exercise. This class is designed for ages 50 and over. This class will be taught by 68 year old
Jim Shaffer, who is a certified personal trainer. Jim will teach you a variety of exercises including cardio, Med-X, Nautilus, free
weights, and stretching. Jim will assess the levels of fitness of each participant and pick exercises and weights that are
appropriate for each participant. Learn something new and join this class! All classes are held on Monday and Wednesday
from 9:00 a.m.-10:00 p.m.

TEENAGE STRENGTH TRAINING
This is a program for 12-15 years old to help understand proper exercise techniques. Participants learn proper form on the
Nautilus and Med-X machines. They are also taught proper form on free weights and cardiovascular equipment. General exercise
principals, nutrition, anatomy, and injury prevention are also taught. At the end of the class the participants must pass a written
test, with a score of 75% or better, before utilizing the fitness center. Upon completion, parent must be on the YMCA premises for
their children to use the fitness center. A certified personal trainer teaches the class.
This class is for members only.
Cost: $20.00 Members Only
Monday/Friday.

YOUTH CIRCUIT TRAINING
This class is a fast paced circuit training class designed for teens between the ages of 8-15. In one hour the class will quickly
move from one machine to the next, keeping the heart rate high, and burning calories. The instructor will demonstrate the
exercises and then supervise the training. The class will use a combination of Med-X, Nautilus, and some free weights. This
class is for constant motivation and supervision of teens in the fitness center. No previous workout experience needed.
Tuesday and Thursday 5:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m.
Cost: $25.00 Members Non-Members $40.00

ABS AND LOWER BACK CLASS
This is a 30 minute class designed to target the muscles of the abdomen and the low back. The instructor will use a variety of
exercises including floor exercises, ball exercises, and machines.
All classes are held on Tuesday and Thursday 5:30 p.m.-6:00 p.m.

MASSAGE
Pamper yourself and relieve stress. Massage therapy is an integral part of wellness. Licensed therapists offer massage Monday-
Saturday at various times. Call the YMCA at 736-6000 for specifics. $50/hr; 30/1⁄2 hr.

Spinning Classes
Spinning is a stationary cycling program personalized for participants of any age or fitness ability. The Spinning program uses the
specially designed Johnny G Spinner Elite stationary cycle. This bike allows students to control their exertion level while
still enjoying the motivation of a group setting. You can bring in the class personal heart rate monitor to create individualized,
highly effective workout results. Come and see what all the excitement is about! Participants can burn up to 400 calories in 60
minutes of non-impact, individually paced, cardiovascular exercise. Inspirational music and a fun, motivating environment ensure
an enjoyable, safe, and effective journey for all participants. Cyclers should come 10 minutes early for bike set up. Doors close
immediately at start of class. Water bottle and towel are mandatory.















GROUP FITNESS CLASSES
The YMCA offers a variety of aerobic programs to meet every individual need. Group exercise and fitness classes
are available to YMCA members and guests ages 12 and over. Athletic shoes, proper clothing, and towels are
required. Most aerobic classes follow the same basic format, including warm-up; 30 - 40 minutes of aerobic activity;
cool down; muscle toning; and stretching. All group fitness classes are designed so participants may do either low
impact or high impact in any class.

  • Total Body Stretching & Relaxation
Tues 8:45 a.m.-9:45 a.m./Fri 6:30 p.m.–7:30 p.m.
A fluid & graceful yet strong form of movement performed at a
slow tempo. Emphasis on deep breathing, balance and flexibility. The class also incorporates exercises and poses to improve
body tone, balance, and strength.
Please bring a towel to use as a prop. Resist-a-ball or body bar are also utilized.

  • Toning & Stretch
Thurs 5:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m.
Working with lightweights to achieve over-all body toning and conditioning, balance, coordination and strength along with a
variety of stretching.

  • Step Variety
Wed 5:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m.
Step aerobic class which may use or 1 or 2 benches to create fun and challenging cardiovascular workout.

  • Cardio Mix Abs & Arms
Monday/Wednesday/Friday 5:45 p.m.-6:45 p.m.
Intensify your workout with this combination of floor aerobics, step and strength training with weight to give you a workout with
variety.

  • Basic Step
Tues 10:15 a.m.-11:15 a.m.  
This class is for people who are new to step and want to learn the basic moves and what they’re called. Strength, abs, and
stretch end the class.

  • Interval Fit
Tues/Thurs 7:30 a.m.-8:30 a.m.

  • Senior Fit
Mon/Wed/Fri 10:15 a.m.-11:15 a.m.
Be fit at any age! Class includes low-impact aerobics, muscular strength, and
endurance, flexibility/relaxation exercise designed for the active older adult population.

  • Kickboxing  
Thurs 8:45 a.m.-10:00 a.m.
High-energy cardio kickboxing class designed for all fitness levels. Class incorporates
traditional boxing punches with martial arts kid and self-defense move set to music. Improve cardiovascular fitness level, strength,
endurance, speed, agility balance, and flexibility.

  • Multi Step Aerobics  
Mon/Wed/Fri 8:45 a.m.- 9:45 a.m., 5:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m.;  Sat. 9:00 a.m.-10:15 a.m.
This class may consist of 1, 2, 3, or 4 benches to create a fun, and challenging cardiovascular workout. Traveling between
benches creates a high-intensity,
low-impact workout.

  • Pilates  
Mon/Wed 6:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m., Tues 5:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m. Tues/ Thurs 12:30 p.m. –1:30 p.m.
A series of mat exercises which are designed to improve muscle strength and flexibility, balance, posture, and overall well-being.

Have fun and move to the music through a variety
of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of movement, and activity for daily living skills. Hand-held weights,
elastic tubing with handles and ball are offered for resistance; and a chair is used for seated and/or standing support.

  • SilverSneakers® II
Fri 11:30 a.m.-12:15 p.m.
Combine fun with fitness to increase your cardiovascular and muscular endurance power with a standing circuit workout. Upper
body strength work with handheld weights, elastic tubing with handles and a ball is alternated with non-impact aerobic
choreography. A
chair is offered for support, stretching, and relaxation exercises

  • Body Toning
Thurs 5:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m.
A revolutionary new weight training workout in a group fitness setting using barbells with adjustable weights, set to motivating
music, it is simple, athletic based workout that strengthens, tones, and defines every major muscle group in your body. Ideal for
beginners right through to experienced exercisers. It is the workout for
EVERY-BODY.

  • Zumba
Saturdays, 10:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m.
Age: 12 and up; in the Studio Fitness. The class is free to members.

TUMBLING CLASSES
The classes begin with a total body warm-up, which includes push-ups, sit-ups and laps. The remainder of the time is spent on
skill development with each student that includes
such basic techniques as rolls, cartwheels, walkovers, handsprings and tucks for the
intermediate to advanced tumbler. This is a complete endurance program for tumblers
of all levels and all ages, just sign up.
