SUMMER DAY CAMP
What will your kids do this summer?
The West Volusia Family YMCA Summer Day Camp programs are an experience your children will never forget! This is the summer child-
care alternative which encourages spiritual, mental and physical development, group fellowship, new friends, sharing responsibilities and
self-expression. We also teach the following values: Caring, Honest, Respect Responsibility & Faith. Our staff is composed of adults and
college students (18 years of age and older) who truly enjoy working with children. All staff are carefully screened for their positions and
attend training sessions prior to the beginning of camp. In addition, all staff have First Aid and C.P.R. Certifications. Several staff are
certified lifeguards. All staff understand the Christian mission of the YMCA and realize the impact they can have on the life of your child.
All our camps maintain a ratio of one counselor to fifteen children.

KINDER CAMP
This exciting camp is specially designed for children ages 4-5 years old that have not attended kindergarten.  Kinder Camp provides the
opportunity to learn and grow, to create and explore in a highly supervised atmosphere.  Your child will develop new skills, gain self-
confidence, meet new friends, and learn to share and accept others.  Activities include swimming lessons by certified swim instructors,
arts and crafts, nature study, theme weeks, field trips, games, sports and play time.

CAMP ADVENTURE
Camp Adventure features two separate camps:
  • Junior Camp (5 years old that have attended kindergarten - 7 years old)  and
  • Senior Camp (8-11 years old).
Large and small group activities which include songs, games, crafts, and skits are included in each week of camp.  Both camps will also
have access to our Olympic size swimming pool, picnic and playground areas, gymnasium and multi-purpose space.  Each camp's
curriculum is specifically designed for the age group with which it deals.

MIDDLE SCHOOLERS SUMMER CHALLENGES:
CAMP DISCOVERY
This camp is for middle schooler 12-15 years of age.  It is action packed, presents challenges for our middle schoolers everyday, and will
help them "discover" the great potential that lies within them! Activities include trips, swimming, community service projects, sports, crafts
and FUN!  They will be going on a minimum of three trips each week.  Examples are:  Sea World, the Beach, Water Mania, Rock Springs,
Daytona Lagoon, Islands of Adventure and more!

THE C.I.T. (Counselor in Training) Program
This program will also be offered during the summer.  This program is for teens 16-17 years of age.  It is a unique combination of fun and
learning.  Teens are given a chance to develop leadership and marketable job skills.  They will receive on the job training by assisting
the counselors in Camp Adventure and Kinder Camp.  CIT's will receive training in special areas.  CIT's will also be going on two special
CIT field trips during the summer.
